Water jetting (Hydro Blasting) is a non-abrasive surface preparation method where high-pressure water removes rust, scale, old coatings, oil, and salts from steel or concrete surfaces.

  • Ensures a dust-free, environment-friendly cleaning method.
  • Prevents embedding of abrasives (common in sand/shot blasting).
  • Ideal for areas where dust generation is restricted (oil & gas plants, refineries, food industry).
  • Provides a clean surface suitable for painting or coating application.
  • Common applications: storage tanks, pipelines (internal & external), ship hulls, bridges, power plant structures.

Hydro Blasting Machine Description

A Hydro Blasting Machine is a high-pressure water jetting equipment designed to remove rust, scale, coatings, and industrial deposits using pressurized water.

Key Features:

  • Pump: Triplex plunger pump (diesel/electric driven).
  • Pressure Range: 4,000 – 20,000 PSI.
  • Flow Rate: 10 – 50 LPM (depending on cleaning requirement).
  • Operation: Manual gun or automatic system with rotating nozzles.
  • Applications:
    • Rust & paint removal from steel structures
    • Heat exchanger & condenser tube cleaning
    • Tank & vessel cleaning
    • Pipe descaling & industrial floor cleaning

✅ Advantages of Hydro Blasting over Abrasive Blasting:

  • Environment-friendly (no abrasive dust).
  • No contamination of surface.
  • Can clean in sensitive areas (chemical plants, refineries).
  • Safe for stainless steel & special alloys.

  • Pressure Range:
    • High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ): 4,000 – 10,000 PSI
    • Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting (UHPWJ): 10,000 – 20,000 PSI
  • Standards: As per SSPC-SP12 / NACE No. 5 – Surface preparation by water jetting.
  • Surface Finish Grades: WJ-1 (Clean to Bare Substrate), WJ-2 (Very Thorough Cleaning), WJ-3 (Thorough Cleaning).
  • Application: Rust removal, old coating removal, salt & contaminant cleaning.

Design

  • Working Principle: High-pressure water jet is directed through a nozzle to impact the steel surface.
  • Nozzle Types: Rotating, fan jet, and pencil jet nozzles.
  • Automation: Can be manual, semi-automatic (robotic arms), or fully automatic for large areas.
  • Key Feature: Does not damage base metal or change its profile, only removes corrosion & coatings.

Collection (संग्रह / Procurement)

  • Equipment: High-pressure water pump, hoses, nozzle gun, control valves.
  • Consumables: Nozzle tips, seals, filters.
  • Accessories: Rotating cleaning heads, robotic arms (for tanks/pipes), vacuum recovery system.
  • Safety Gear: Protective suit, face shield, water-proof gloves, boots.
